Before becoming one of the lead Pilates instructors in the area, Briohny enjoyed a long and successful career in the world of hairdressing. Her growing love for an interpersonal relationship with her clients, her kindness, her thoughtfulness, and her dedication in that field made the side-step into Pilates all the more comfortable for her. Her infectious smile, bubbly personality, approachability, and passion for Pilates are evident in every class she instructs.
In addition to spearheading and running the clinical Pilates program at Freedom Physio and Pilates, Briohny is also busy nurturing a young family. Her experience as a veritable supermom means that she understands the importance of feeling your best, not only in the office but at home with your loved ones, too.
Briohny has always believed in the importance of moving and staying fit, as from a young age she was an active netball player, enjoyed competitive horse riding, and loved swimming. As she grew a little older, she started practicing yoga and really found her love for multidimensional forms of activity, that is, exercise challenging both the mind and the body.
The true turning point for Briohny was when she reached her late 30’s. At that point she had just started a family, and the effects of her age had become apparent to her during the long hours spend in the hair salon. Pins and needles crept into her daily routine, so much so that the discomfort in her feet often got in the way of exercising, her family life, and even her independence!
Enough was enough. Not being one to tolerate immobility and pain, Briohny sought the help of an expert physio, namely Joshua Hayter, here at our very own Freedom Physio and Pilates! After a few sessions, Joshua introduced her to clinical Pilates, and her life-long love affair with the discipline kicked off.
For Briohny, Pilates is so much more than an exercise regime. She believes clinical Pilates hones both the mind and body, making the former more resilient and confident, and the latter stronger, suppler, fitter, leaner, and more toned than it has ever been. Her classes are driven by her passion for the discipline, and her determination to help heal/rehabilitate patients via the use of clinical Pilates is inspiring.
Briohny’s message is simple: clinical Pilates makes you feel younger, happier, healthier, and fitter than you have ever felt. And the wonderful thing about Briohny is that her Pilates classes never fail to impress upon her students that fact.
